CNA Classes in Arizona

With the baby boomers beginning to age, there has been a lot of stress on the healthcare system recently and the need for Certified Nursing Aides has never been higher. In Arizona, there are 13 facility programs available as well as 3 hospital CNA programs to train you as a certified nursing assistant. One of the hospital programs, the Banner Health Certified Nursing Assistant Program is offered only to Banner employees. However, the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Medical Center and Tucson Medical Center Healthcare CNA Program for Adults are both available to the public.

Arizona CNA Classes

The purpose of CNA training programs is to provide students with the skills and abilities in order to thrive in their desired field. The first few days of class consist of traditional CNA classes  and covers topics such as the functions of acute care, long-term care, assisting living, home care and rehabilitation.

Next up in your CNA training, you should expect to learn about the duties of the nursing team and the primary care team as well as the functions of the RN, LPN and CNA. You will learn about the organizational structure within each of the above-mentioned facilities as well as which regulatory agencies monitor and govern healthcare in Arizona.

Therapeutic techniques for stress relief and stress management are taught in CNA classes in Arizona as well, along with time management, and accepting and refusing work and what that means for you. Ethical behavior is also covered, along with delegation of tasks, standards and code of conduct and the requirements for examination and subsequently, certification.

Certification & Examination Requirements

Here is the information that you will need to send to the Arizona State Board of Nursing in order to obtain permission to write your examination and become certified:

    Within two (2) years from the day that you complete your CNA classes, you need to send a copy of your “certificate of completion” from your training program to the Arizona State Board.In lieu of the letter, you can provide proof of having completed 120 or 75 hours of CNA Training in another state and proof of having worked as a CNA for at least 45 hours. This should be in the form of a letter from your employer.Alternatively, if you have graduated from a Registered Nursing or Licensed Practical Nursing program and you meet the educational requirements, you may take the exam.A completed fingerprinting card and resultsCompleted “Application For Certified Nursing Assistant Examination” form along with the fee.Costs For Certification
